Welcome to the Montville Bronco’s Cheerleading Program.  I hope that your child has a very exciting and memorable experience in the Bronco program.

The Broncos youth sports programs exist to help children in the development of positive life skills and self-concepts. Our mission is to provide safe, enjoyable recreation opportunities for all participants.

It is our mission to teach the basic skills and fundamentals of the sport, which young people need to be able to play in a safe and nurturing environment, where all children will have the opportunity to play regardless of skill level.

Finally, it is our mission to ensure that each child has a positive, rewarding experience while participating in the programs, and that each child will learn the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, honor, and integrity while sharing with their coaches and teammates the emotions of success and failure.

Here are the rules & regulations that will be followed throughout the year:

  1. All Cheerleaders are required to register for the program on the dates specified.  If you register after the mail in registration date a $25 fee will be assessed.

  1. No refunds will be given after May 10th.

  1. All Cheerleaders are required to attend 8 of the 10 practices.  The practice weeks are June 12-16th from 6-7:30pm and August 21-25th from 6-7:30pm.  Makeup practices will be at the discretion of the coaches.  If your child does not make 8 of these practices they will not be allowed to cheer and no refund will be given.

  1. Deposits of $150 must be left for Uniforms.

  1. Once the season begins in the fall the cheerleaders are allowed two absences from games or practices.  There are usually 9 games in the season and practice is held before the games.

  1. Once the season begins in the fall, games will usually be held on the weekends, except for an occasional weeknight game.

  1. Drop off and pick up your child on time for all games and practices. If you do not attend a game or practice another parent must be in charge of your child.  The coaches are not responsible for your children. Chronically late pick ups will result in your child being removed from the squad.

  1. Coaches will not be responsible for other children at practices or games.  Sisters, brothers, etc., are not permitted at practices or on the field.

  1. Cheerleaders should be fully dressed on the field approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the game or at the time specified by the coaches and their assistants.  If your child is late and did not inform a coach they will be benched for the half time routine.

  1. Parents and family are strongly encouraged to ATTEND and CHEER at all games for a most positive and fulfilling experience for all the youth cheerleaders.

  1. Parents and coaches are encouraged to maintain a positive attitude around the players at all times. Negativism and criticism will have a detrimental effect on your child’s individual performance and the team.

  1. Township policy states that only Players, Certified Coaches and their Assistants are permitted on the field at any time. At no time should any coach be approached on the practice or game field.  Please address any issues with Coaches prior to the start of the game or at the end of the game.  NO ONE is to approach a coach on the field.  If this occurs your child will be removed from the field for the day.

  1. Concerns should first be addressed with the Head Coach. If that does not result in a satisfactory resolution then it may be brought to the Director and, if necessary,  the Broncos Board.

  1.  Jewelry and earrings (not even posts) are not permitted and hair should be tied back.  The coaches cannot be held accountable for holding jewelry or other valuables.

  1. A medical waiver/participation waiver, filled out by a parent/guardian must be submitted with registration prior to the first practice.  Any child without these forms will not be permitted to practice.

  1. In the fall, once the season begins, squads will hold practices before each game.  This too is mandatory.

  1. Students are required to follow their coaches’ instructions concerning half-time routines.  The “Buddy System” will be used at all times.  During practices and games students must inform their coaches of their whereabouts and cannot leave the group alone.  No one is allowed to leave a game until her coach dismisses her.  If rules are broken, the child will not be allowed to cheer at the next game.

  1. Our cheerleaders will be representing Montville Township and therefore should always put their best foot forward.  They will not name call, argue, shout, or behave in any other unsportsmanlike way.  Failure to follow these guidelines could result in removal from the squad.  Excessive make-up, unruly hair, jewelry, and gum chewing is not permitted.  Uniforms must always be neat and clean.

  1. All children will be receiving clean uniforms that they will be required to return in the same condition.  Parents are asked to purchase sneakers, panties and white shirts to complete the uniform.  The Broncos will supply regulation white socks, gloves, and hair ribbons at no charge.  Pompoms and raincoats may be supplied but will remain property of the Broncos.  Girls are responsible for bringing them to every game.  If the weather is cold, girls may wear flesh colored tights or green sweatpants, Broncos colored headbands, and gloves.

  1. Regardless of the weather, every child is expected to be in complete uniform and ready to cheer at every game.  If there is a question as to whether or not a game will be played due to inclement weather, your coaches will notify their phone squads/ e-mail and they will notify you.  Games are generally called early so if you do not receive a call the game is on.

  1. Please try to support Broncos functions; this is a significant part of how your child’s programs are funded.

  1. Behavioral problems will not be tolerated.  Any child who exhibits inappropriate behavior at practices or on the field will be benched, or removed from the squad, at the coaches’ or directors’ discretion.

Please Remember: All coaches are unpaid volunteers who devote considerable time and effort to the players and the program at much personal sacrifice. Please take the time to say thank you!
