Summary of 2008 Rule Changes

-        New Leagues Configuration

• A level 6th to 8th grades
• B level 4th & 5th grades
• C level 2nd & 3rd grades
• D level K & 1st grades

-        Safety

• Helmet with face mask required for A & B Levels
• All pitchers required to wear heart guard
• Catchers required to wear throat protector

-        Base Running

• Only one base on an overthrow  - Even if a 2nd overthrow
• Clarification of pitching circle rules pertaining to base running

-        Player Callups

• Allow callups to field a team of either 8, 9 or 10 players

-        Time Limits (A,B & C Levels)

• No time limit for games with no game to follow
• No new inning after 9:15 pm/drop dead at 9:30 pm for 7:30 pm game starts
• No new inning after 1 hour & 30 minutes/drop dead at 1 hour & 45 minutes for games preceding another game

-        Pitching

• Combination of player & coach pitching for B & C Levels
•  Elimination of consecutive innings pitched rule
•  Maximum of 2 innings per game for each pitcher at B & C Levels
• 11 inch cushioned ball to be used at C Level
•  Elimination of windmill pitching requirement

-        Batting

•  Bunting allowed at any time at A & B Levels
• Allow batters to advance up to 2 bases on a batted ball at D Level
