MBSA Meeting Minutes

Date:  November 4, 2008

Attendance:  20 plus

Meeting called to order at 8:37pm

-        John Sharpe from Frozen Ropes spoke about coaches clinics that Frozen Ropes is going to run for all MBSA coaches.  The baseball coaching clinic will be Wednesday, March 18^th from 8:30-10pm.  The softball coaching clinic will be Thursday, March 19^th from 8:30-10pm. 

-        MBSA Day will be December 29^th from 10am to 5pm at Frozen Ropes for Montville residents.  Montville residents may use the facility free of charge on the 29^th.

President’s Report: 

-        Registrations for recreation baseball and softball will be January 5^th to February 21^st.  A $50 late fee will be assessed after February 21^st.

-        Registration forms will be emailed to all families through the MBSA and the schools, and will be available on the MBSA website.  There will be one form for both baseball and softball and the code of conduct will be included.  Forms will be filled out per child- not per family. 

-        There will be two in-person registration dates:  January 17^th and 31^st from 10am to 1pm at 5^th Base.

-        Opening Day is April 18^th.  Games will begin the week of April 13^th.

-        Field renovation/maintenance to begin on Muni 2 and 3.

-        Fall clean up is November 15^th at 9am.

Softball: 

-        Lower League Coordinator is Frank Prudente

-        Spring travel tryouts have been completed.  There are 5 teams:  2 U10’s, 2 U12’s and 1 U14.  The U10 teams and U12 B team will play recreation as well.

-        The recreation softball upper league draft will be the first week in March before clinics.

-        Michelle Fund is May 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd

Baseball:

-        Spring tryouts will be completed this week

Treasurer:

-        $62,000 in the account

-        Will be paying for refurbishing muni 2 and 3

The next MBSA meeting will be Tuesday, December 2^nd at 8:00pm.

Meeting adjourned at 9:15pm.
