MBSA Meeting Minutes

Date:  May 4, 2010

Attendance:  20+

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm

President’s Report:

• Opening Day was a success

• Baseball coaches have been doing a good job with field maintenance.  Softball coaches have been a little lax.  There are now boxes at Woodmont, Valley View, Hilldale and Lazar fields with field maintenance equipment.

•Hilldale school field- The Township Engineer will donate his services to help design the plan necessary for fixing the drainage problems.  Hope to begin work in the fall.

•A purchase order and deposit were given for the nets for the muni fields.  Installation will begin next week and should not disrupt any games.

• 4th of July parking- the MBSA is responsible for parking during the town celebration Friday night and all day Saturday.  Each team must be represented for one 2 hour shift.  Please see the MBSA website for available time slots and to sign up.  The MBSA gets 25% of the parking proceeds.

•If coaches decide to cancel/reschedule a game, they must notify Jim Bush (baseball) or Scott Holmes (softball) at least 36 hours before so they can cancel the umpires.  If no one is notified, the MBSA is still responsible for the umpire fee.

•There will be no game cancellations due to the ASK testing.  If teams cannot field a full team, call ups can be used.  If they still can’t field a team, a forfeit will be declared, but it will not count towards the team’s win-loss record.  The teams may try to reschedule, but it is not guaranteed that the game will be rescheduled.

Softball:

•Michelle Fund was a huge success.  No injuries this year. 129 games were played from Friday evening to Sunday evening.  Numbers are still coming in, but the tournament raised somewhere between $12,000-14,000 which is donated to the Michelle Sullivan Fund.  Jackie Rosellini was the senior MTHS varsity player honored.

•Summer travel tryouts for all levels will be Saturday, May 22nd at 6pm and Sunday, May 23rd at 4pm.  Details are posted on the website.

Baseball:

•Summer travel tryouts are posted on the website and will be sent to the schools.

•Pitching guidelines have been sent to all the coaches and are posted on the website.  The guidelines are for the safety and health of the boys.  They must be strictly followed.

•All rec teams will make the playoffs which will start in early June.

Treasurer:

• Around $135,000 in the account.  Some bills still need to be paid.

The next MBSA meeting will be Tuesday, June 1st at 7:30pm.

Meeting adjourned at 7:51pm.
