MBSA Meeting Minutes 3/4/2008

MBSA Meeting Minutes

Date: 03/04/08 – 8:00pm at 5^th Base Building

Attendance: Approx. 40 people

President’s Report:

·        Opening Day volunteers are needed. Please contact Larry Manfra at larman@optonline.net if you’re interested in helping out.

·        Picture Day- Need volunteers for both baseball and softball. This is a big fundraiser for the MBSA and we need volunteers to help run it.

·        4^th of July Parking – This year every coach will be given a timeslot and if they cannot make it they will be responsible for getting a team representative.

·        Sponsorship Update (Tim Holmes) – We need more sponsors for certain age groups. Contact Tim Holmes at timholmz@optonline.net for more information. Forms are available on the MBSA website.

·        Brick Drive Project Update (Diana Higgins) – 66 bricks have been ordered. Another 15-20 are waiting to be shipped. Our goal was 100 bricks by opening day and we are close. See the website for more information and forms. 

·        5^th Base Update (Larry Manfra) – Project is complete and under budget. .

·        Coaches Certification REMINDER: Please contact Maryann Witty at Montville Recreation to register for Coaching Certification training. All coaches need to be certified.

·        Cleanup Day is Saturday March 22^nd at 8:00am.

Softball Report:

·        Drafts will be scheduled in the next 2 weeks.

·        Softball rules have been updated and will be reviewed for revisions.

·        The Michelle Sullivan fund has agreed that 100% of funds made from the tournament will be given back to the MBSA.

Baseball Report:

·        Babe Ruth charter is complete.

·        7-8 year old clinics will be held 3/8 and 3/15. Check MBSA website for time and location.

·        The spring drafts are scheduled and will happen within the next 2 weeks.

Treasurer’s Report:

·        Current balance is approx. $118,000. Most of the money is coming from registration, sponsorship and the brick drive. Reports were available at meeting.

Next meeting will be held April 1st  8:00pm at The New 5^th Base.
