MBSA Meeting Minutes

Date:  March 3, 2009

Attendance:  35+

 Meeting called to order at 8:04pm

 President’s Report: 

-        Coach’s clinics will be March 18^th and 19^th from 8:30-10pm at Frozen Ropes.  Clinics are free, and all coaches are strongly encouraged to attend, especially lower league coaches.

-        The new lights will be in place for opening day for Muni 1 and 2. Project bid is $30,000 less than projected.

-        Spring clean up is March 21^st at 8am.  March 28^th will be the rain date.  Many people will be needed.  The Kiwanis will also need some help with rebuilding the playground area.

-        A new flag pole is being installed.

-        First games played at the muni’s will begin on Opening Day rather than April 13^th to allow extra time for field prep and light installation.

-        Picture Day is April 25^th for softball and tentatively May 9^th for baseball.

-        Team Sponsorship needs:  2 more for the 7’s, 2 more for the 9’s, 4 more for 10/11’s, 4 more for 13/14’s.  Softball needs many more. 

-        Sign Sponsorship:  8 new signs, 20 renewals.  About 30 more signs needed.

-        Relay for Life given permission to sell cupcakes on opening day as a fundraiser.

 Treasurer’s Report:

Current balance is $158,000

 Baseball:

Spring recreation drafts:  Head coaches ONLY!

                                          Majors- March 5^th at 7pm at 5^th Base 

                                          Upper League- March 9^th at 8pm at 5^th Base

                                          9’s- March 9^th at 7:30pm at 5^th Base

                                          Minors- March 9^th at 8:30pm at 5^th Base

 Softball: 

-        The draft for rec softball, levels A and B, will be on March 16th at 5^th Base.  B level draft begins at 6:30pm and A level begins at 8pm.  Head coaches ONLY!

-        Rules committee met and revised some of the rules.

-        Michelle Fund will be May 1^st-3^rd.  Tournament has 44 teams and is sold out.

-        Coach Immediato’s clinic dates: March 7^th and 14^th  Grades 6-8 from 4-5:30pm

o       March 7^th and 14^th  Grades 4-5 from 5:30-7pm

o       March 21^st and 28^th Grades K-1 from 4-5:30pm

o       March 21^st and 28^th Grades 2-3 from 5:30-7pm

-        Nick Sisco will hold a coaches clinic for the C and D level coaches during the clinics listed above on the 21^st and 28^th. 

-        Coaches needed at the C and D level.

 The next MBSA meeting is Tuesday, March 31^st at 8pm at 5^th Base. 

 Meeting adjourned at 8:31pm.
