MBSA Meeting Minutes

Date:  June 1, 2010

Attendance:  20+

 

Meeting called to order at 7:32pm

 President’s Report: 

• The nets have been installed.  Possibly need more for Muni 3.

 •Field maintenance going okay, but satellite fields could be better.  MBSA considering hiring someone to maintain satellite fields.  Will be discussed further next year.

 • 4^th of July parking- the MBSA is responsible for parking during the town celebration Friday night and all day Saturday.  Each team must be represented for one 2 hour shift.  Please see the MBSA website for available time slots and to sign up.  The MBSA gets 25% of the parking proceeds.

 •Pictures are in and can be picked up at 5^th Base.  Upper League pictures still need to be done. 

 •A committee is forming to update the bylaws.  If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Tim Holmes at mbsatim@optonline.net.

 •A gift is given to the High School each year for the use of their fields.  The high school’s wish list includes an indoor batting net.  Prices will be obtained.

 •Nominations are being accepted for all MBSA Board and Director positions.  Nominations will be finalized in September and elections will occur in October.  If you would like more information on a position, please contact Tim Holmes at mbsatim@optonline.net.

 Softball:   

•Rec softball rules have been updated and distributed to coaches.

 •Coach Immediato, High School Varsity Coach, is running a softball camp 6/28-7/2.  Information about the camp is on the website.

 •Summer travel teams have been posted on the website.  There will be no U14 summer team this year.

 •A U-23 team (that has many Montville Alumni on it), will play on Sunday, June 6^th at Muni 2.  Game will start between 5:30-6:00pm.

 Baseball:

•Summer travel team results are posted on the website.

 •Lee Tsukroff is forming a committee to review and clarify baseball rules.  He is looking for 3-4 people interested in being on the committee.  Please contact Lee at lee270@optonline.net if you are interested.

 •Pitching guidelines have been sent to all the coaches and are posted on the website.  The guidelines are for the safety and health of the boys.  They must be strictly followed.

 •Rec playoffs begin June 5^th.  Schedules will be sent to coordinators.

 •Trophies will be in soon.  7’s and 8’s will receive participation trophies.  Ages 9 and up will receive trophies for 1^st and 2^nd place only.

 •Montville is hosting the U-12 districts and will be using Muni 1 and 3. 

 •Coaches need to get their books in order for Babe Ruth.  Lee Tsukroff has Babe Ruth patches if anyone needs one.  ID cards have been ordered.  Coaches will be contacted by the towns sponsoring their age level’s districts.

 •If you need an insurance certificate for tournaments, please contact Lee.

 •Lee will be meeting with the summer travel coaches to go over schedules and fees. 

 •Rec playoffs get priority for field scheduling before travel baseball practices.

 Treasurer:

• Around $130,000 in the account.  Umpires need to be paid for the playoffs.  Travel teams still need to pay the MBSA.

 The next MBSA meeting will be Tuesday, September 7^th at 7:30pm.
