•Picture Day for baseball is April 24th and for softball it is April 17th.  If the weather is good, pictures will be at the munis.  If the weather is bad, softball will be inside 5th Base and baseball will be in the high school.  A team picture for every team must be taken for the sponsor’s plaque.

•Board of Ed is supposed to be working the Hilldale field this week.

• The proposal for nets to be installed along the foul lines on muni 1 has been delayed due to the floods. The proposal is expected this week.

•Opening Day is April 10th.  Teams should be at Lazar at 9:15am to line up for the parade.  Info is being emailed to all coaches.  Tim Braden, Scott Van Koppen and John Regan will be organizing the teams for the parade.

•If coaches need additional equipment, they should contact their league coordinator.

•Uniforms should have been distributed already.  Contact league coordinators if you have not received your team’s uniforms.

•Field lights should not be turned on until they are needed.  They do not need warm up time.  5pm is too early!

•There have been some reports of negative coaching.  It will not be tolerated!

•The trash cans have been overflowing at some of the fields.  Let the MBSA know so they can notify the town.  The fields should be left in a clean condition- pick up your team’s trash.

•Relay for Life doing a cupcake sale at Opening Day ceremonies.

Sponsorships:

• Team sponsors are complete.

• Outfield signs are up.  Will accept more sign sponsors.

Softball:

•Michelle Fund April 30th- May 2nd has 54 teams paid to participate. Field prep volunteers are still needed.

• Travel softball rules were reviewed by Tim Braden, Director of Travel Softball, and the directors voted to approve them.  They will be posted on the MBSA website.

•Rec Teams have been selected and coaches should have contacted their players.

•Rec softball will begin April 17th and each team should have 3 practices before the games begin.

•C and D level players will now have to use batting helmets with face masks/guards, as per Babe Ruth rules.  This rule has been in effect for A and B level players for a number of years.

Baseball:

•A discussion about practice schedules was going to occur after tonight’s meeting and coaches would be notified about practices.

•The summer travel A teams are to play in the Suburban Essex League.  Cost will be $250 a team and A teams will be fielded at the 9, 10, 11, and 12 level.  The B teams at those ages will play in a different league TBD.

•To be eligible to play in the recreation league playoffs, a baseball player must make 50% of the regular season games.  League Coordinators will be enforcing this rule.

5th Base:  Travel coaches need to let the staff at 5th Base know their team’s schedules so that 5th Base can be open for their games.  If a game has a time change, email Carmen Cerreto so he can have staff available at the new time.  5th Base will open even if there is only one game!  Carmen’s email is ccservice1@aol.com.
