Montville (7) vs. North Bergan (5)

Well, it was a tough fought game all the way, and in the 4th Montville
fell behind 1-0, but with 2nd, and 3rd with Taylor Meytrott on 3rd Josh
Gajdos Doubled to put Montville ahead 2-1. In the 5th inning North Bergan
came and scored 4 runs. That put North Bergan ahead 5-2 but with a hit here
and a hit there in the bottom of the 5th inning Montville scored one run, but
wait that wasn't all. With a few walks, the bases loaded up steped David
MMMMMeccccaaa...He swings, it is high, it is far, it is...GONE, David Mecca
hits a Grand Slam to put Montville ahead 7-5, and that's how the game ended
in the 6th. Great clutch hit by david Mecca!!!

Montville vs. Edison 7/8/00 5-10 Edison tournament

Well, it was another tough day, or should I say night!!! Edison scored one run in the 1st. In Montville's 1st, Casey Vielee singled, Taylor Meytrott doubled, David Mecca walked, and Mike Boggi doubled. Billy Schmolze walked, and Brandon Glyck hit into a fielders choice. Montville scored two in the 1st. Montville did nothing in the 2nd, and Edison didn't score any runs. In the 3rd David Mecca singled, and Mike Boggi walked with two outs, but that was all. Edison scored one run in the 3rd. In the 4th for Montville Brian Danzi singled, Brandon Glyck walked, but again they were LOB (left on base). Edison scored no runs in the 4th inning. In the 5th inning Casey Vielee slapped a ground ball that went right under his glove. Taylor Meytrott doubled, Mike Boggi hit a double, and ran right past Coach Meytrott's stop sign, and forced the throw to third, which was thrown away. So three runs scored there including Mike Boggi, but that was all. Edison scored 6 runs in the 5th, including a grand slam. Edison scored two runs again in the 6th, and Montville didn't score any runs in the 6th. That made it a 10-5 Loss for Montville. It was a good game, until Edison broke out in the 5th. There were also some close call's, but what are you going to do???!!!

Montville vs. North Brunswick 7/6/00 14-6  Edison tournament

Well, Montville did good in the first day of the Edison tournament. They started off in the 1st. Jimmy Moustakis singled, and stole second. Taylor Meytrott singled, moving Jimmy Moustakis to 3rd base. Josh Gajdos singled, scoring Jimmy, and moving taylor to third.Billy Schmolze hit into a fielders choice, scoring Taylor Meytrott. He moved to third on Casey Vielee's double. That was the end of the inning though. MIke boggi started the game for Montville, and only let up one hit in the 1st inning. In the 2nd Bobby Whyte led off the inning for inning for Montville with a hit. Brandon Glyck hit into a Fielders Choice, as did Casey Vielee. with two outs Taylor Meytrott singled, but that was it. North Brunswik scored 3 in the 3nd, but in Montville's half of the 3nd David Mecca led off the inning with a single, Mike Boggi singled, Casey Vielee doubled, scoring Mecca, but that was it. At the end of the 3rd it was 4-3 Montville. In the top of the 4th, It was a HUGE inning for Montville, not only did they bat around, but everyone on the team scored!!! Well, Brandon Glyck started things off with one out by hitting the ball hard, and got on, on a hard hit error on the Short Stop. Jimmy Moustakis got up, and hit his first HOMERUN, a two run blast!!! up came Taylor Meytrott who doubled, Josh Gajdos hit a HOMERUN to score himself and Taylor Meytrott. David Mecca singled, and Mike Boggi walked, Billy Schmolze hit a hard shot to the Short Stop that he errored on, so it was Bases loaded one out, and up came the little, but BIG Casey Vielee, he swings, it is high it is far, it is gone!!! A GRAND SLAM for Casey Vielee, incredible!!! Brian Danzi, the next hitter up walked, as did Hank Lyon Brandon Glyck singled, Josh Gajdos walke. So Montville scored ten that
inning, making the game 14-3. Josh started pitching in the 4th for Montville, and only allowing two runs. Nothing happened in the 5th for Montville, or the 6th for that matter. North Brunswic scored one in the 5th, and Hank Lyon shut the down 1,2,3 in the 6th. The game ended in a 14-6 Win/Victory for Montville!!!

Montville vs. Little Falls 7/5/00

Well Montville finally got there hitting shoes back on!!! In the first
Billy Schmolze walked, Josh Gajdos singled, and David Mecca came through
again with the big Hommer, to score Billy, and Josh. Bobby Whyte, and Brian
Danzi both singled. Ih the second, Hank Lyon doubled, and stole third.
Billy Schmolze walked again, and stole second, he scored on Josh Gajdos'
double. In the third Boby Whyte got on, on an Error, Brian Danzi doubled,
Brandon Glyck singled, and stole second. Hank Lyon walked. Bobby Whyte,
Brian Danzi, and Hank Lyon all scored on either of Casey Vielee's single,
Billy Schmolze's hit, Josh Gajdos' sac fly, or Mike Boggi waked, and David
Mecca singled. Casey Vielee, and Billy Schmolze. Five runs scored in the
3rd inning. In the 4th Brian Danzi doubled again, and Brandon Glyck singled,
scoring Brian Danzi, and Hank Lyon singled. Mike Boggi singled, and stole
second. In the 6th Montville didn't need to bat. Montville won 11-6. Great
Hitting all around Montville.

Montville vs. East Hanover 7/3/00

Well, Montville 12A have been on a losing streak, and they continued it
on Monday night. In the 1st inning the only man on base was Mike Boggi with
a walk, who stole second, but didn't score. In the second inning David
Mecca started off with a single as did Jimmy Moustakis. Brian Danzi and
Taylor Meytrott singled at the end of the inning three runs scored. In the
3rd inning Mike Boggi was hit with a pitch, but that was about all of the
luck Montville had that inning. In the 4th inning It was the same kind of
thing, a Single by Bobby Whyte, and that was all. (C'mon Montville put on
your hitting shoes!!!) In the 5th Casey Vielee singled, Josh Gajdos hit into
a fielders choice, David Mecca singled, and got to second on a throw to third
for Josh. It was Second and third, and Jimmy Moustakis singled, scoring Josh
Gajdos, but no other runs scored for that inning. In the 6th, it was three
K's and the game was over. East Hanover won 6-4, and Montville lost 6-4.
C'mon Montville let's step it up!!!

Montville vs. Wayne 6/28/00

In the first inning Taylor Meytrott walked, then stole 2nd and 3rd. But nobody drove him in. In the 2nd, Billy Schmolze singled, but that was all. In the 3rd Brandon Glyck walked, but again that was all. But in the 4th Taylor Meytrott walked again Josh Gajdos Singled, Mike Boggi Singled, as did David Mecca. Jimmy Moustakis got on, on an error, and Brian Danzi singled. They got three runs out of this inning. Nothing happened in the 5th. In the 6th Mike Boggi Walked, and David Mecca Singled to knock in Mike Boggi. But Montville ended up losing in the bottom of the 6th inning 5-4, and that was the end of the game!

Montville vs. Glen Ridge   6/28/00

In the 1st inning Casey Vielee Walked, and stole second base, but the number two, three, and four hitters all struck out! The slow pitcher had the whole team off balance. Nothing happened in the second, two K's in the third again, but in the 4th, Taylor Meytrott got on, on an error, Mike Boggi walked, and um came the big David Mecca, he swung, And as John Sterling would say, "It is High it is Far, It Is GONE!" David Mecca Hit a Home Run! Which supplied all of the teams runs, then he came in, and shut them out while he pitched!!! There were no other hits after that!!! Congratulations to David Mecca on his game Winning shot! And that's the ballgame, all in one Game-Recap!.  Montville 3 - GlenRidge 2.

Montville vs. Verona 6/26/00

Well it was another close game, that Montville won, the Line-Up was
changed around for fun, but Montville still won, because every hitter on the
team is gteat! In the 1st inning Bobby Whyte hit a double to start things
off. He advanced to third on David Mecca's Double, but nobody came though
with the 1st and 3rd situation though. In the second inning Josh Gajdos
singled, but that was all, in the 3rd Bobby Whyte walked, and stole second.
Taylor Meytrott Doubled, but Bobby Whyte only made it to third, but Casey
Vielee Singled to Score Talylor Meytrott. Nothing happened in the 4th, but
in the 5th Josh Gajdos Hit A Homerun, and Taylor MeytrottWalked, and stole
second, Casey Vielee walked, and Jimmy Moustakis got on on a fielders choice, but that was the end of the inning. Montville didn't need to bat in the 6th, because they were up 2-1, for there second VICTORY of the day!!! Final

Montville Vs. Lincon Park 6/26/00

Well it was a tight game, but in the 1stTaylor Meytrott led off with a
single. Josh Gajdos hit a single, and stole second. It was 1st and 3rd, but
nobody came through to knock them in. In the second David Mecca Hit a
Homerun to get things started. Billy Schmolze hit a single, then stole 2nd
base, but again he was left on base. In the third Nobody got a hit, but in
the 4th Mike Boggi hit a triple to start things off. David Mecca got on, on
a Fielders Choice, and advanced to third on Brian Danzi's Double which scored
Mike Boggi. Brian Danzi picked up an RBI (Run Batted In), but the inning was
over. In the 5th and the 6th nothing happened. The Final Score was 2-1
Montville.

Montville vs. North Bloomfield 6/24/00

It was a busy day at the "Muni's", with the tournament going on, and there was over 6 hrs. hit throughout the course of the day! But i am going to tell you about the Montville vs. North Bloomfield! In the 1st inning Taylor Meytrottled off the top of the 1st inning with a single, and stole second. Josh Gajdos Doubled scoring Taylor Meytrott. In the second inning David Mecca walked, Bobby Whyte Singled, Billy Schmolze hit a three run blast scoring, David Mecca, Bobby Whyte, and Billy Schmolze (of course!!!). In the third Josh Gajdos was hit in the leg, but didn't score. In the 4th  inning Talyor Meytrott Doubled, Casey Vielee Singled, Josh Gajdos singled scoring Taylor Meytrott, and Casey Vielee. David Mecca walked, Jimmy Moustakis Singled, scoring David Mecca, Billy Schmolze walked, Brandon Glyck got on, on an error, and Hank Lyon also walked, all three of them scored. In the fifth inning Bobby Whyte walked, and stole second and third. He scored on Jimmy Moustakis' single. In the 6th Montville didn't bat, because they used the speed up rule in the bottom of the 5th inning. The game ened in a Montville win 12-5! Thankyou!

Montville Allstars vs. Clifton 6/21/00

Hello everyone this Wednesday night Montville played Clifton (@Clifton).
The first inning started off pretty quiet. Josh Gajdos hit a single, as well
as Mike Boggi did. They did score one run though, Casey Vielee walked, and
Mike Boggi hit him in for one Montville Run. In the second there was only
one hit, and that came from Jimmy Moustakis. No runs scored though. In the
third there were four hits and two runs though. Casey Vielee hit a single,
Josh hit a triple to score Casey Vielee, and then Mike Boggi hit a single,
which scored Josh Gajdos. The other hit came from Brian Danzi who hit a
double. In the fourth there were three up, and three down, but in the fifth
Casey Vielee, and Josh Gajdos both got on on errors, Mike Boggi hit a single
scoring Casey Vielee, and Josh Gajdos. That was all for the fifth. But
again in the sixth the bats came alive again. With a double from Taylor
Meytrott, a FC for Casey Vielee, singles for David Mecca, Bobby Whyte, and
Brandon Glyck, and also a double for Jimmy Moustakis, and another single for
Hank Lyon. They scored four runs. That's how Montville went on to beat
Clifton 9-5.

All Stars-Montville vs. Lincoln Park 6/17/00

Well it was a hot and humid day on Saturday as Montville took on Lincon Park. Well as Montville led off in the first, there was two outs, and Josh Gajdos came to the plate, with two strikes he took the pitcher the other way for a two out single, which started a rally because the next batter was Mike Boggi. Josh Gajdos Stole second, and again with a 0-2 count Mike Boggi came
through with a two out hit, which scored Josh Gajdos. Up came David Mecca
who hit a hard shot to score Mike Boggi. Well nothing much happed in the next four innings, but in the top of the sixth, with no outs, and no one on, with Lincon Park leading 3-2 Bobby White Creamed the ball for a Ground Ruled Double into the woods, next up was Taylor Meytrott who got a hit a shot which Taylor Meytrott ran out for a Triple to score Bobby White. The next two hitters up made out, and that brought Mike Boggi to the plate again he creamed the ball into the gap for another triple, that made it back to back triples, and also a 4-3 game (Montville). It was the bottom of the sixth, and they called for Hank Lyon to pitch. He faced three batters, and sat three down; nobody could touch him, except for one or two kids who grounded out rather then striking out! sThat gave Montville a 4-3 victory over Lincoln Park.

In Town Allstar Game 6/18/00

It might have been a rainy ugly, Fathers Day, but that didn't stop The
West vs. The East playing in the second annual Allstar game. I would
normally give you a recap of the whole game, but today it would take me hours
to go through all the great plays, because there was so many great players
out there making great plays in the field, great plays on the base paths, and
also of course great hits, and speaking of great hits there was one very
special hit in this game, and the was Billy Smolze's 2nd inning Home Run!
Congratulations Billy Smolze for a great hit in a big game! And I don't want
any of you to think that that was the only great hits in the game, but that
one in particular was a great hit! I would like to congratulate everyone for
playing in the second annual Allstar game, and for having a great game!
Great Job everybody! Also thank you Mr.Cerbo or should I say Umpire Cerbo
for a very well "umped" game, and also Bruce Dostil for a very well "umped"
game! And also great job to Mr.DeZao for a super broadcasting/announcing job,
and also all the coaches, and all the other people who made the second annual
Montville Allstar Game Possible! Thank you again to all the players,
parents, coaches, and everybody else who helped out with this fun game! I
hope everyone had a lot of fun, and Good Luck to all, and Happpy Fathers Day
to everyone!

In Town Final Week and Playoffs

World Series Franey vs. Meytrott

Well it all came down to the World Series, the two best teams in the league! In the first, with David Mecca pitching for Franey, Greg Havasta led off with a single for Meytrott. Then Donnie Trifari singled, knocking in Greg Havasta. Tommy Saley singled to knock in Donnie Trifari. Ryan Gajdos led the bottom of the first off with a double, David Mecca doubled to knock in Ryan Gajdos. This made the game 2-1 going into the top of the third inning. Nothing much happen through the next innigs, so the two teams went into extra innings in the 7th inning. In the 7th inning Mike Flanery, and Joel Schreck both walked. No runs scored for either team though this inning.  In the 8th inning Taylor Meytrott singled, Mike Todisco doubled, Adam Lewis singled, this made the game 4-2 Final. Franey didn't score in the bottom of the 6th. It was a great game all around though, and GREAT Sportsmanship by both teams at the end of the game...Great Game Meytrott, and Franey! Way to go Meytrott!

Franey vs. Schmolze 6/20/00 2nd round of the playoffs

On Tuesday night, before the 13 inning game, there was a normal 6 inning
game. It was Franey vs. Schmolze to go to the World Series. David Mecca
started the first inning pitching for Franey. Jason Schwartz led off with a double for Schmolze, followed by singles by Jimmy Moustakis, and Billy
Schmolze, and a double by Jay Cannizzo. At the end of the first half of the
first inning it was 2-0 Schmolze! Jimmy Moustakis started for Schmolze. In
the third inning Josh Gajdos hit a double to score Brian Conklin who had
walked earlier in the inning, he also knocked in Ryan Gajdos who had also
walked in the inning. This tied the score 2-2. In the 4th inning, Timmy Mann, and Billy Schmolze doubled, Jimmy Moustakis hit a single to score Billy Schmolze. This made the game 4-2 Schmolze in the 4th inning. In the 5th inning Franey's team took charge. Brian Conklin led off with a walk,
followed by a single by Ryan Gajdos, a bunt by Ryan Breznavits, and a double by Josh Gajdos, which he advanced to third on an Error. Three runs came in, then David Mecca doubled to bring in another run. Franey's 7th run was scored when Charlie Potenza knocked in David Mecca. Aaron Glick singled for Schmolze in the 6th, but the game ended with the score of 7-4 Franey! Great Job by both teams, and good luck to Franey in the World Series against Meytrott!

6/15/00 Franey 2 - Boggi 1

Well, On Thursday night, it was a little warmer out, and both teams
played like it. The win was for the Best Record in the league. It started
off with Josh Gajdos pitching for Dan Como & Sons. Then Alec Barbaz hit a
double for Natoli Construction, he stole third, and an overthrow from the
catcher sent him home, for a stolen base. That gave Natoli Construction one
run. Mike Boggi started the game for Natoli Construction and pitched a good
strong four innings. In the third, Charlie Potenza hit the ball hard for
Dan Como & Sons, but it was caught. Then it came down to the wire David
Dissler came in to pitch the 5th inning and came through big, and got Dan
Como & Sons out of the inning. Then in the 5th Lee Gross came in to pitch for
Natoli Construction. David Mecca came through with a big single. Then
David Dissler bunted to get on. It was first and second and up came Charlie
Potenza he also bunted, and got a clean hit out of that. Then up came Ryan
Mattesky who also tried to bunt, but in his attempt he bunted the ball into
the air, and Lee Gross hustled in to make the grab. Then up came Chris
Franey who came through with a big hit to win it for Dan Como & Sons. Chris
Franey got a base hit up the middle which scored David Mecca, and David
Dissler. Lee Gross finished up the inning without anymore runs. It was the
top of the 6th, and David Dissler finished up the game for Dan Como & Sons
with a big 1,2,3 inning. Joey Armenti hit a hard grounder for Natoli
Construction to shortstop Ryan Gajdos, who threw him out at first to make the
last out. It was a well fought game all the way, and in games like this it is
a shame that anyone has to lose, Congratulations to both teams for a well

6/13/00 Lyons 1 - Franey 2

This Tuesday night it might have been rainy, cold, misty, and ugly outside but that didn't stop Dan Como & Sons (Franey) from playing Barry's Pharmacy (Lyon). Hank Lyon started off the game for Barry's Pharmacy and was throwing hard. Ryan Gajdos led off with a walk, and Josh Gajdos hit a triple, which turned into a homerun on an overthrow, which scored two runs. David Mecca Started for Franey, and Shut down nine straight batters for the first three innings. In the Second Ryan Gajdos got Dan Como & Son's out of the second inning with an unassisted double play. Then with Jonathan Badras on second, and Mattan Hoffman on first base, Brian Danzi came through with a big double, which scored Jonathan Badras. Josh Gajdos Came in to close the Game For Dan Como And Sons. Hank Lyon, Jonathan Badras, Ryan Presto, and Brian Danzi combined to Pitch only a two run game for Dan Como & Sons. The Game Ended in a 2-1 Win For Dan Como & Son's, but it was a well fought game all the way!
